Therapy For Teens
Therapy for teens carrying more than they show
Being a teenager right now means holding a great deal at once, school, friendships, phones, family expectations, and a sense of who you are that is still taking shape. Many teens look fine on the outside while carrying much more than they let on. Therapy gives them one steady hour a week that is genuinely their own, a place to think out loud without being graded or managed.

Meeting teens on the level
Teenagers can tell within minutes when an adult is talking down to them. I am not here to lecture, and I am not reporting every detail back home. I meet a teen with respect, real curiosity, and a bit of humor, and we work on what actually matters to them: pressure at school, low mood, anxiety, shaky friendships, or questions about who they are becoming.
What teens often bring in
The reasons vary widely, and none of them has to be dramatic to be worth an hour. Some of the most common:
- School and pressure: We work with grades, deadlines, and the burnout that builds up underneath.
- Mood and worry: We make room for low mood, anxiety, and the nights that are hard to switch off.
- Friendships and social media: We look at comparison, group dynamics, and where a teen actually stands.
- Identity and confidence: We give space to the ongoing question of who they are and who they want to be.
Sometimes the most useful thing for a teen is one adult who is simply on their side.
How parents fit in, and where therapy ends
For anyone under eighteen, a parent or guardian is part of the process, and I involve you in a way that still respects your teen's growing need for privacy. Early on we agree what gets shared with you and what stays between your teen and me, so trust can build on their side while you stay informed about anything affecting their safety. Parents are partners in this, not outsiders looking in.
Therapy here is regular, outpatient counseling, not a crisis or emergency service, and I do not monitor calls or messages around the clock. If your teen is ever in immediate danger or talking about hurting themselves, please turn to my crisis resources or call or text 988 right away. Counseling also does not involve diagnosis or medication, so if either becomes part of the picture, I can help your family connect with a medical provider.
