How I Work

A practical approach, shaped around you.

Jason Versace, LMHC, NCC is a solution focused, compassionate, and empathetic clinician who works with multicultural clients across all age groups. The method follows the person, not the other way around.

Where the work starts

Most first conversations cover two things: what is happening now, and what you would like to be different. From there the approach is chosen to fit the person, not applied from a fixed template. Sessions are available at the Tampa office or by telehealth, for adults, teens, couples, families, seniors, LGBTQ+ clients, veterans and BIPOC clients.

The four approaches used here

These are rarely used in isolation; a single session may draw on more than one, depending on what is most useful that day.

  • Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)

Concentrates on where you want to get to, what is already working, and the first visible signs of progress.

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Examines the thoughts and behaviours that keep a difficulty in place, and tests them rather than assuming them.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Builds room for difficult feelings while you act in line with what matters to you.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

A free 15-minute consultation is the simplest place to start. No commitment, just a short conversation about what you are looking for.

Tracking progress

Progress is easier to see when it is measured rather than remembered. Three brief, widely used questionnaires are part of practice here: the PHQ-9, the GAD-7 and the MDQ. They take a few minutes, are reviewed together with you, and check whether the work is moving in the direction you wanted.

  • PHQ-9 for tracking depressive symptoms over time.
  • GAD-7 for tracking anxiety symptoms over time.
  • MDQ as a screening measure related to mood.

These are tools for the conversation, not a substitute for it: they sit alongside what you notice in your own week.

Where to go next

The clearest place to start is solution focused therapy, the orientation most of this work begins from. You can also see the full range of concerns on what I treat, read about Jason on about, or check fees and insurance on rates.

Begin when you're ready.
