Working for yourself is its own weather

St. Petersburg holds a lot of people whose income is not a salary: artists and makers, studio and gallery workers, musicians, people running a shop, a studio, a trade or a small practice. That life carries a particular set of pressures. Money arrives unevenly. Your work and your sense of self are hard to separate, so a slow season can feel like a verdict on you rather than a season. Rest looks like slacking, and there is nobody to hand a task to.

We can work on that concretely: what you actually control, how you decide a day went well, and how to keep going through a stretch that is not going your way. That often overlaps with self-esteem and with stress and burnout, because when the work is personal, the two run together.

Long-time residents and later chapters

  • Creative work: Uneven income, exposure, and identity tied up in what you make.
  • Small-business owners: Carrying staff, customers and the whole thing at once.
  • Established lives: Retirement, health news, and grief that arrives with a long history behind it.
  • Close to Tampa: If you would rather sit in a room, the office is a bridge away.

A slow season is a season. It is not a verdict on you.

How the work is done

I am Jason Versace, MA, LMHC, NCC, licensed in Florida under MH21235, practicing as Psi Wellness, Inc. The approach is solution focused, blended with CBT, ACT and DBT. We start from what you want to be different and work on the thoughts, avoidances and habits nearest to it. Short questionnaires such as the PHQ-9, GAD-7 and MDQ give us plain checkpoints, so we are reading progress rather than recalling it.

St. Petersburg clients often come in for anxiety, depression, grief and loss, or life transitions such as retiring, selling a business or starting over. The online format is explained in full on telehealth across Florida, and in person sessions are open at the Tampa office if the drive suits you.
