## A military and veteran city

Jacksonville has a large active duty and veteran population, and that shapes what people bring to therapy. Deployments and transfers reorganize a family more than once. Coming out of service can mean losing a structure that told you what mattered each day. Spouses hold the household together through absences and then have to renegotiate it when everyone is home again. None of that is a weakness of character, and it does not need to be translated into softer language before we can work on it.

Plain talk works better here than jargon. If something difficult happened, we go at a pace you set rather than opening it all at once; that is the approach in [trauma and PTSD work](/trauma-and-ptsd). If the harder part is sleep, irritability and a short fuse, we start there, because that is what is costing you at home.

## A city that is genuinely spread out

-   **Service and veteran life:** Transitions, deployments, and reentry into civilian routine. 
-   **Military families:** Moves, absences, and figuring out the household again afterwards. 
-   **Long commutes:** Jacksonville covers a lot of ground. Video takes the drive out of the appointment. 
-   **Shift and logistics work:** Port, transport and hospital schedules do not follow office hours. 

You should not have to drive an hour to talk about your week.

## How the work is done

I am Jason Versace, MA, LMHC, NCC, holding Florida license MH21235 through Psi Wellness, Inc. Sessions are solution focused and blended with CBT, ACT and DBT. We name the thing you want to be different, then work on what sits closest to it: the thoughts, the reactions, the habits that hold it in place. The PHQ-9, GAD-7 and MDQ give us short, plain checkpoints so progress is measured, not assumed.
