Office is in Tampa - Approach Solution focused, blended with CBT, ACT and DBT ## Care work, on someone else's hours Clearwater has a lot of people who take care of other people for a living: hospital and clinic staff, nurses and aides, care homes, paramedics, hotels, restaurants and the trades that keep all of it running. Twelve hour shifts, rotating nights and weekends on are exactly the conditions that make therapy hard to start and easy to drop. Video sessions fit into the gaps that actually exist, and if you would rather be in a room, the Tampa office is a manageable drive across the bay. Caregiving work has its own pattern. You get good at absorbing other people's worst days, and you get used to putting your own reaction off until later, and later does not come. That shows up as sleep trouble, a shorter fuse at home, dread on the drive in, or numbness. It is worth treating as work-related rather than a personal failing, which is how we handle it in [stress and burnout](/stress-and-burnout). ## Two ways to meet - **Healthcare and care staff:** Burnout, compassion fatigue, and what you carry home from a shift. - **Shift schedules:** Video sessions from home before or after a shift, without a commute attached. - **In person is realistic:** Clearwater to downtown Tampa is a normal drive, so the room is a genuine option. - **Mix the two:** Start in the office and switch to video when the rota gets awkward, or the other way around. You get good at putting your own reaction off until later. Later rarely comes. ## How the work is done I am Jason Versace, MA, LMHC, NCC, holding Florida license MH21235 through Psi Wellness, Inc. Sessions are solution focused and blended with CBT, ACT and DBT: we get specific about what you want to be different, then work on what holds it in place. The PHQ-9, GAD-7 and MDQ give us short checkpoints so we can see whether the work is landing.
